More Birthday Art,,,

The arting continues...

This piece is for my best friend's birthday, and aside from the tusks, ears, reduced digits, and skin tones, is a pretty accurate representation of us riding our four-footed boys. The spotted one is Odin, and the blond is my accidental Aughisky.

Happy Early Birthday InspectorBoxer!

Finally got this done! Hope you like it, and I'll be thinking of you this week!

The weekend of art...

The last of the snow has melted, and with the return of the sun, my creativity has shaken off the last of it's winter lethargy and come back to me. I started and finished two illustrations this weekend, and finished another one. Here's two of them, the third will follow once it's given the green light by its recipient.

Never say die... Update on "Resistance"

Hey all,

Well, its been 7 months since my last update to my own TSCC story, but tonight I sent a draft of chapter 15 of "Resistance" off to my beta.

There have been a lot of challenges to working on this story over the last year, my commitment to the SCC VS being only one of them. Added to that I started a new job last April and bought a horse this summer. Time has become a precious commodity, but even more than the time shortage, I've been having trouble coming back to the same head space I was in almost two years ago when I started this story. I think I've made big strides as a writer in that time,so it's hard not to be overcritical of my early chapters, and not to let that feeling get in the way of finishing.

I've thought seriously about going back and rewriting the first half before going any farther, but I've decided its better to push on and get it done. I can always edit the entirety later.

So chapter 15 is on the way, and while the VS continues, and I have half a dozen other tscc stories in the WIP folder, I'm hoping to keep this fic moving through the 7 or 8 chapters I think it has left.

Wish me luck!

So... I meant to get to bed on time tonight... and then I looked at a half finished sketch and decided it had potential.

Now I have a new userpic and about 5 hours to sleep.

*facepalm*

The besotted-ness with this character continues. Enjoy.

There is always something...

And then there is another something on top of the something, and then there is no end to the somethings. ~ Terry Pratchet.

My life in a nutshell lately :).

Quick update because I've been working on my episode for the SCC VS since 10am this morning and I need a little break. It's been a crazy winter here so far, but there are some highlights.

Augie is doing well, no luck finding him a forever home yet, but he's moving forward steadily. He still has his fear issues but we're working with them, and I have to say it's a rare horse that would get me out riding in minus 20 degrees 3 times a week. Thank the gods for chemical toe warmers.

My kitten Igor, or cat now I should say since he's a year old, had a brush with the reaper last weekend, when he decided to raid my craft drawer and swallow about ten feet of string, but after pretty serious gastrointestinal surgery and 3 days on IV, he's finally home. Here's a picture of his Franken-belly.

Other than that there is work, work, and more work, temporary short-staffed-ness has become permanent wearing everyone thin to make ends meet,  but I just found out I'll be getting two months of summer off like a proper teacher, so I'm super excited about that. I should be able to catch up on my personal projects including "Resistance" and some original writing I've been meaning to do.

Hope everyone has been doing well, now I'm off to get back to writing.

The VS is back for a new season,  and the first episode is live! Check out FALLOUT  by the very talented inspectorboxer , or read the first season HERE. Enjoy!

AN: unbetaed and a little silly, this mini-fic is forfig_aruna who supplied the prompt, and to everyone else who so generously donated to the Aughisky fund! Thank-you so much! He's doing really well and there will be a post on him and his progress up shortly.
AN #2: If you would still like to help out, and garner a fic of your own *g*, the original "Save Aughisky" post is
here . Now onto the TSCC silliness!

"You never should have let her read Twilight..."Collapse )

Hi all,

A little while ago I started leasing a horse with serious fear issues that had resulted in falls and concussions for two experienced riders. After a month, the owners decided they no longer wanted the hassle of leasing a horse and, to make a long story short, he more or less had a one-way ticket to the slaughterhouse.

Aughisky is only five years old, and his troubles are directly related to trust issues caused by mismanagement and abuse sustained in his past. He is also the sweetest horse I have ever worked with, so two friends and I pooled our money and bought him to save him from ending up on a plate.

The plan is to take three months to retrain and then re-home him. And endeavor that has a minimum price tag of  $1500.00, a cost which is really straining all of our budgets after we tapped ourselves flat just to buy him.

I'm writing this post to see if anyone is interested in donating to the cause to save this wonderful animal. Anyone who donates will receive a TSCC drabble or short fic of their prompting by way of thanks.

If you would like to donate, follow this link and then comment or send me a message with your prompt.

My newest World of Warcraft Character, a blood elf deathnight and her undead horse.

One of the early quests for a deathknight involves stealing a horse from the enemy and delivering it to a character on their own side to be transformed into a "deathcharger". Bluntly speaking, it's killed and reanimated, much like the  deathknight herself was slaughtered on the battlefield and resurrected by the enemy to fight against her former allies.

Freed from the Lich king, Sylphidae mourns with her loyal mount for all they once had and have now lost.
